Fieke Overmaat - Chair

Hello Ubbo Emmians! My name is Fieke Overmaat and I am 21 years old. I am currently in my fourth year of the bachelor and I am finishing some last courses. This year I have the honour to be the chair of this great association! The exact tasks of a chair are sometimes hard to describe, but I would summarize it as keeping the overview. I am in charge of our board meetings, where we discuss for example our policy. Moreover, I will keep in contact with the History programme of the University, discussing how Ubbo can assist in the programme. Upcoming year I will be the vice-chair of the Career Committee, where we organise activities related to the future careers of historians. If you are curious how being a chair works in practice, you can always ask me!

Kevin Valke - Secretary

My name is Kevin, I’m 20 years old as I’m writing this and I’m a third year History student. I’m interested in contemporary political history and in my free time I love to watch series, eat good food and drink good wine. This year I will have a little less time to study and have less free time because I am Board Overmaat’s Secretary! I make sure the e-mail is organized and respond to most questions that you may have. I also keep track of new members, and also keep track of people that are leaving the association. Furthermore I keep in touch with the dear Friends and Reunists of the organization. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, I take the minutes during board meetings to make sure that we don’t forget anything. I’m really looking to this year and seeing you all at all the activities!

Wietse Karst - Treasurer

Hello there, my name is Wietse Karst and I am the treasurer of G.H.D. Ubbo Emmius. I am 23 years old and I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Groningen. I have been studying history for three years now and have been an active Ubbo Emmian ever since. As part of the board I look forward to a fun year filled with many lovely Ubbo activities. When I am not buzy with Ubbo I like to drink a beer with my friends, read a good book, or go out for a run. I also love to watch a good (children’s) movie with my two brothers.
 
As the treasurer I have the nice responsibility to keep track of all the financial things that happen within Ubbo. I collect the yearly contribution, collect the monthly activities and I’m the person who sends you all the nice tikkies! Besides collecting money I also spend the money of Ubbo. I do this with my ABN Amro e-dentifier and debit card in hand! Next to being busy with money, I also do the bookkeeping and oversee the committee budgets. I also have other responsibilities as a board member such as hosting hokhours and participating in all the nice activities that Ubbo organizes!

Bibian van Dijk - Commissioner of External Affairs

Hi! I’m Bibian I’m 20 years old and I’m the Commissioner of External Affairs in the 86st board of Ubbo Emmius. Most of my tasks are a bit more in the background to make your life at Ubbo even better. This includes keeping in contact with all of our lovely partners and trying to get new partners so you can get some nice discounts at your favourite restaurants! Together with the acquisition committee I also get some additional money to the association.
I am also in the SGN board with all of the other history associations in the Netherlands to organise two incredible activities. Next to this I’m in the head committee for the Galant Gala where I also do acquisition and organize an incredible party.
This year I will also be vice-chair of the almanac committee which I’m very exited about! I’m very happy to get to be in this lovely committee and make an oversight of the year!
What I love about my position is that I get to meet and work with many different people over the year. I’m looking forward to see you at the hok or our many activities

Daan de Boer - Commissioner of Internal Affairs

Hi everyone! I’m Daan and I’m currently 22 years old and in my third year. This year I will be overseeing 9 different committees, so chances are that you will run into me often. As Commissioner of Internal Affairs, I’m not in a committee, but I’m there to keep an eye on the committees and their plans. Luckily that doesn’t mean you will never see me during any of your meetings. Sometimes, if time allows it, I will be joining. The committees I oversee are of course the committees I enjoy the most, but unfortunately, I’m not really allowed to play favorites.
My daily tasks include reading the minutes of my 9 committees. When we have a board meeting it’s my task to inform the board about the happenings in those committees. This makes my job in the association very dynamic and fun. I get to hear a lot of different stories and ideas and that’s very fulfilling.
I’m hoping that this year will even better than the last. Together with you, the association, we can make this year one no one will ever forget!

Ismael Zarrouki - Commissioner of Public Relations

Hi there! My name is Ismael Zarrouki, I'm 20 years old and I am the Commisioner of Public Relations. I am currently in my third year and have been active at Ubbo since my second year. In my free time, I like to make music, watch movies or cook for myself. 
My duties as PR cannot be summed up in one sentence. I maintain the website, the app, the Instagram and Facebook page and I keep track of the committee points system. I am also the chair of the Media Committee and take a seat on the Ubdate Committee as Vice-Chair. 
You can recognise me during activities by the camera I wear. Because that is the most important task in my eyes; taking pictures of all your beautiful faces! I am really looking forward to this year as a board member. Fortunately, I don't do it alone and I have five fantastic people around me who support each other wherever they can.
