Reinder Westerhof - Chair

Hello everyone, my name is Reinder and I am excited to be chair of the 89th board of GHD Ubbo Emmius. I’m originally from the beautiful city of Utrecht, but I have been living and studying in Groningen for two years now, which means I am a third year student. As chair, I will lead our board meetings, keep in touch with the student mentors, keep watch of the board and be in contact with the faculty. I will also be part of the Study Committee, which you might know from our lovely exam trainings! Besides Ubbo, I love walking, football and hanging out with friends, as well as reading (when I find the time). This year I am really looking forward to getting to know Ubbo and its members as best as I can, so come up to me at the monthly drinks or during the Hokhour, and we will make this a great year!

Maud Bouma - Secretary 

Hi everyone! My name is Maud Bouma and I am 20 years old. I am currently in my third year of the History Bachelor and also taking part of a Minor in Anthropology. I am really looking forward to my year as Secretary of Ubbo, as it will be both a new and exciting challenge!

I am always happy to help with anything, so don’t hesitate to send me an email! I’m very organised and, among other tasks, I make sure the members’ administration and emails are kept in good order. Most email contact will therefore go through me. I also take the minutes at board meetings and General Members Assembly’s, ensuring they are clear and accurate. Soyou’ll often find me busy typing away on my laptop.

Besides my role as Secretary, I enjoy reading and being creative in my free time, as well as spending time with friends. I'm very happy with my fellow board members and I'm really looking forward to the coming year!

Jorien Spikman - Treasurer

Hi! My name is Jorien and I will be your treasurer this year. In my free time I love to collect money, count money and have money. Being treasurer is perfect for me! All jokes aside, I'm not mr. Krabs all the time. In my free time I love to run, swim, boulder and be outside. I love hanging out with my sisters and friends. I also enjoy seeing some live bands every once in a while! You can probably find me at club Vera.  Overall I'm very much looking forward to upcoming year. Especially meeting my excie and forcing them to play hitster with me. I can't wait to see you around at all the activities!

Hanna Looijen - Commissioner of External Affairs

Hi! My name is Hanna and I am the Commissioner of External Affairs of the 89th board of Ubbo-Emmius. I am 22 years old and from the beautiful city of Haarlem.

As Commissioner of External Affairs, I am the contact person for our sister and brother associations as well as our partners. I will also work on creating new partnerships so our members can enjoy extra benefits.

Within Ubbo-Emmius, I am Chair of the Acquisition Committee and Vice-Chair of the Lustrum Committee, where we will start preparing for the 18th Lustrum this year. Outside of Ubbo-Emmius, I am part of the Galant Gala Committee, which organizes the gala in February, and I will also join the SGN board to help organize SGN Day.

I am very excited for the year ahead and hope to see you soon at my Hok Hour!

Arno Zantingh - Commissioner of Internal Affairs

Hey everyone, my name is Arno Zantingh and I will be the Commissioner of Internal Affairs this year! I am 21 years old and I am currently in my fourth year of studying history. I love football, both playing it and watching it. As a true Groninger football fan I have an FC Groningen season ticket (now for the tenth season in a row!). I love to go out for drinks with my friends or with my colleagues at TOTT, the restaurant I work at. I also like electronic music, hard house is my favourite but hardstyle is my guilty pleasure. This year will be a special year for me as Commissioner of Internal Affairs, as the Career Committee has been added to the list of Internal Committees. I am, however, absolutely certain that this will not be a problem at all. I am really looking forward to this year and especially to the creativity my committees will have to offer in the upcoming year!

Bjoke Westra - Commissioner of Public Relations & Vice-Chair

Hi,

I’m Bjoke, PR and Vice-Chair of the lovely Board Westerhof. Besides helping to run the board, you’ll often find me behind the camera at activities, trying to get those Instagram-worthy pictures of everyone having a good time. I’m also always in for a chat; about Fryslân, student life, or just over a drink.

This year I’ll be part of the Media Committee and the Ubdate Committee. Both are a great fit for me, since I really enjoy writing and coming up with creative ways to keep everyone engaged and informed about what’s happening within the association. I’m excited to show what Ubbo is all about through social media.

Outside of Ubbo, I work with elderly people, something that means a lot to me and that I find really rewarding. In my free time I like to wander through the Dutch countryside, play kaatsen (a traditional Frisian sport), and relax by cooking or hanging out with friends. These things keep me balanced and give me the energy to take on everything this year has to offer.

I’m really looking forward to this year and can’t wait to experience it all together!
