This event is open to everyone!
Dear lecture lovers,
On the 29th of June we ask the question: How is history made? Who decides which stories are told?
In this lecture Sylvana Simons will take us on a journey to uncover how colonial legacies, representation and media portrayals shape our view of the past and the present.
From her unique vantage point, combining experience in entertainment, politics and social movements, she's able to show how power is exercised through stories, why visibility has political significance and what role future historians can, and ought to, play in broadening our collective memory. This lecture is an invitation to all to reexamine our perspectives, to think more critically about our common assumptions and to contribute to a broader perspective on our shared past.
Join us at the Martinikerk on the 29th of June for this wonderful lecture! Walk-in start at 19:00, with the lecture starting at 19:30. You will be able to ask questions too. Afterwards, we will also have a drink at the Buckshot.
Everyone can sign-up for this lecture! You can do this at ubbo-emmius.nl.
We hope to see you all on the 29th!
Kind regards,
The LeCo
