GHD Ubbo Emmius

Dearest Ubbo Emmians,

Even without a Sports Committee this year, GHD Ubbo Emmius (together with our friends over at ODIOM) is very happy to announce that we are still sending a team to the 52nd Batavierenrace! Organising our participation in this, the largest relay race in the world, is already well under way: but we would like to invite any and all interested Ubbo Emmians to contribute their ideas and experience to this process.

The Batavierenrace working group is not a committee, and will not operate like one. Rather than having a regular meeting date, this working group will function as a supportive and advisory organ to the board member responsible for the event (the Commissioner of Internal Affairs). Thus, the workload for the members will be much lower than for a committee. The Batavierenrace (which will be held between May 24th and May 25th this year) is the responsibility of the board, but, in addition to PR, trainings and preparation before the event, there are several logistical aspects (driving, groceries, campground setup) that benefit from having more people involved, as we saw with the introduction of the Sports Committee in the 2022-23 year.
